When the cooling water temperature reaches a certain point, in order to avoid possible risks, the ECU will make several changes including fuel increase and retarding the ignition point, which will cause a power down.
The purpose of this product is to maintain the maximum horsepower by keeping the temperature of the cooling water at around 75C - 80C. It will activate the fan at 80C instead of 95C and fully utilizes the water characteristics of high specific heat. (Water changes temperature less when it is absorbed or loses a given amount of heat). As a result, it works toward preventing power loss, knocking and various thermal negative effects. It works well for all types cooling systems from the stock radiator to multi layer racing radiators.

There is a close relationship between the water temperature and the horsepower. If the radiator water temperature exceeds a certain point, the ECU takes a corrective action like increasing the fuel or retarding the ignition timing, which leads to a power decline.
Like a lower temperature thermal switch, the thermostat helps maintain optimal water temperatures for maximum performance. The thermostat sets the valve’s opening temperature lower than the stock to circulate the coolant earlier in order to maintain the temperature at around 75C-85C. As a result, it works toward preventing power loss, knocking and various negative thermal effects. It works well for all types cooling systems from the stock radiator to multi layer racing radiators.
J’s Racing recommends use of this product in combination with the lower temperature thermal switch.
